I'm not much of a Quicken supporter, although I use both Windows and Mac products.but the argument that Quicken has changed their business model by doing something nefarious by 'all of a sudden' terminating downloads is nothing new whatsoever. Quicken has had that for at least ten years (maybe more).and the same complaints happen with every year version that had downloads expire, usually around 3 1/2 years.
I never understand those complaining about the termination of online/downloading services.
Therefore, in reality, nothing has changed EXCEPT the term of the termination is now shorter (anywhere from 12 to 27 months depending on where you purchase the subscription) and the price. and in order to continue downloading you'd need to update your Quicken product. Under the 'older' model (pre-subscription), your ability to download or import transactions for Quicken 2017 would have expired anyways on April 30, 2020.
